Nationwide Strike Cripples Court Activities In Lagos

Activities of Lawyers and litigants in Lagos State were disrupted by the Organised Labour's indefinite strike over its dispute with the Federal Government on the new minimum wage, as courtrooms were closed.

Our correspondent's visit to courts showed that the vast majority of judicial staff were absent, while lawyers and litigants were turned away at the entrance by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).

Some of the Federal High Court officials in Lagos who arrived for work in the early hours of the morning were forced to return home due to courtroom closures.

A similar trend was seen in all divisions of the Lagos State High Court, the Court of Appeal, the National Industrial Court, and all Magistrate Courts in the state.
