The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has announced its intention to seek approval for a new national prayer, while confirming that the current national pledge will remain in effect.
During the unveiling of a standardized version of the reintroduced national anthem in Abuja on Wednesday, the agency’s Director General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, addressed the issue.
He stated, "Regarding questions about the national prayer, the NOA will follow the official procedure to obtain approval for the adoption of a new national prayer."
Issa-Onilu also highlighted the NOA’s values orientation programs under the Federal Government’s National Values Charter, which aim to define a shared identity for Nigerian citizens, emphasizing the commitment of both leaders and followers.
In the revised national anthem, only one word was modified. The word “and” in the fifth line of the first stanza was corrected to “are,” resulting in the line now reading, “Nigerians all, are proud to serve.”
