The Concerned Nigerian Youths for Good Governance have withdrawn from the current nationwide protests against poverty and hunger after the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) Managing Director, Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, intervened.
Amb. Mahmud Abubakar, the convener of the youth group, acknowledged the challenges Nigerians face, such as hunger and the high cost of living, at a press briefing in Abuja. However, he commended President Bola Tinubu for his prompt actions, such as lifting the ban on food imports and eliminating import duties.
He also commended the Federal Ministry of Works and FERMA, led by Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, for their efforts in road construction and rehabilitation, which has created jobs for youths, highlighting the recently approved student loan scheme, agricultural initiatives, financial autonomy granted to local government councils in the country, and the approval of a new minimum wage for workers as reasons to give the government more time to deliver.
The organisation, noting the initiative of certain government appointees, such as Engr. Agbasi, who have shown a dedication to youth empowerment and community development, urged its members to maintain composure and engage in dialogue.
Additionally, they underlined that the government of President Tinubu has made great strides in tackling the country's problem and, as such, ought to be given more time to fulfil its commitments.
