The former BBNaija star announced his new career as a professional boxer on Saturday, August 31, 2024. His choice to join the cruiserweight division marks an important shift from his previous career in track and field.

Edwards was a finalist in the African Athletics Championships twice. In 2022, he came very close to winning a gold medal. He also qualified for the final of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022.
