30-year-old Isyaku Babale, a resident of Anguwan Dawaki in Bauchi town, has been taken into custody by police officers in Bauchi State for allegedly stabbing his older brother after a dispute between them.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, March 31, 2024, when the suspect asked the victim to stop ingesting an unpleasant smelling Cold Patch Liquid, also known as "Sholi," in their room. An argument ensued, leading the suspect to grab what appeared to be a knife, and stab the victim in the stomach.
According to investigations, there had previously been violent altercations between the suspect and the victim involving the use of deadly weapons.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bauchi State Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the incident in a press statement on Monday. He stated that the suspect was taken into custody after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Township Police Station Bauchi, received a report about it.
The division dispatched detectives to the scene immediately, and he victim was taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) where medical professionals declared him dead.
Following the news, the officers initiated a manhunt and successfully located and captured the suspect near Bauchi's Kasuwan Shanu metropolis.
The State's Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has directed a covert investigation into the occurrence to elucidate the suspect's motivations before charging him with a crime.
