LG poll: AA Candidate Wins Chairmanship Seat in Rivers
The Action Alliance (AA) candidate, Uzodinma Nwafor, has been announced the winner of the Saturday chairmanship election in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
This was made public on Sunday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital by Justice Adolphus Enebeli (retd.), the Chairman of Rivers State Independent National Electoral Commission.
Additionally, Enebeli disclosed that the AA also secured all the 19 councilor positions in the local government.
In disparity from the regular practice of one party-takes-it-all, the chairman also revealed that the results for the 3I9 wards councilorship, with the APP maintaining supremacy with 314 seats, while the All Progressives Congress, the Labour Party, Social Democratic Party, Young Progressives Party and Boot Party secured one seat each in Okirika, Asari-Toru, Eleme, Degema, and Ahoada West Local Government Areas.
The Chairman of Rivers State Independent National Electoral Commission also hinted that the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) won the councilorship in Okirika Ward 3, the Boot Party in Ahoada-West Ward 8, the Labour Party in Asari-Toru Ward 3, the SDP in Eleme Ward 3 and the YPP in Degema Ward 5.
“After the results were revealed, Enebeli applauded the voters for their peaceful conduct during the election on Saturday.
He affirmed the harmonious exercise in the absence of police protection revealed that “ballot papers in the hands of the electorates are stronger than arms and ammunition.
