Residents of Araromi in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State are set to benefit from much-needed road rehabilitation, as House of Representatives member Babajimi Benson has initiated the repair of the long-neglected Araromi-Adamo road.

The project was officially launched during a ceremony on Thursday, marking a significant milestone for the community, which has endured poor road conditions since the road's inauguration in 1996.

Benson, who represents the Ikorodu Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress, announced that the 1.3-kilometre project is expected to be completed within three months.

During the launch, he emphasized the importance of community support for the contractors to ensure timely completion. “I urge you to support this project, which will be completed within three months. Let’s remind our youths not to engage in any activity that may hinder the contractors from finishing the work,” he stated.

Local residents expressed their gratitude for the intervention, highlighting the challenges they have faced due to the road's deteriorating condition.

Ademoriti Maruf, a lifelong resident, shared, “This road has been a major challenge for us... we have been pleading with the political class to come to our aid but received no response until Jimi Benson decided to help us.”

Community leaders also voiced their optimism about the project. Qazeem Oyeniran, chief of Olufuja-Mojoda Araromi, remarked that the completion of the road would signify a new beginning for residents who have suffered during rainy seasons when flooding often trapped them in their homes.

Chief Nurudeen Shiriki, Baale of Upenyanwa, added that improved road conditions would alleviate fears and difficulties faced by residents during inclement weather.
