A fish farmer, Moshood Suleiman, reportedly in his early thirties, tragically lost his life following a dispute with a commercial motorcycle operator, commonly known as an okada rider, over a fare.

According to Daily Trust, the incident occurred last week when Suleiman took an okada from Unity to Fate road in Ilorin. Sources revealed that a disagreement over the fare erupted between Suleiman, who was a fish vendor in Fate, and the okada rider upon reaching the destination.

Witnesses mentioned that the dispute escalated as other okada operators joined in and physically assaulted Suleiman. He fled the scene but was cornered in front of a nearby filling station, where he was eventually rescued by a family member who had been informed about the situation.

Suleiman's sister, Oyindamola, recounted that her brother passed away at the Ilorin General Hospital, where he was rushed for medical treatment. She expressed a strong desire for justice, urging those responsible to be identified and punished.

"A Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) team that was fortunate to pass through the area at the time, arrested 3 of the okada riders. He gave up the ghost at the Ilorin General Hospital. But we want justice to be served and those involved be fished out and punished. My brother cannot die in vain. Our family wants justice in the matter," Oyindamola stated.

NSCDC spokesperson Ayeni Olasunkanmi confirmed the involvement of their team in apprehending three of the okada riders connected to the incident, but he also mentioned that the police had since taken over the case.

In response, Police Public Relations Officer Ajayi Okasanmi mentioned that he had not yet been briefed on the incident and promised to provide more information once he had been informed."
