Mr Kehinde Ilesanmi, Customs Area Controller for Kwara Command, visited the management of Peace Pharmaceutical Company on Thursday to express his condolences for the fire that destroyed the company in Ilorin.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that on Tuesday, a fire broke out at the business, destroying valuables worth millions of Naira.
Ilesanmi stated during the tour that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is responsible for more than just tax collection; it also facilitates trade through facilities like these.
He mentioned the pharmaceutical industry as one of the excise factories in the state that significantly boosted the command's revenue profile.
“We fill your pains. I’m here to sympathise with you over the fire incident and to equally notify you that the management of NSC is with you at this trying period.
“The role of NCS is not only to collect revenue but also to facilitate trade through forums like this,” he said.
However, the comptroller appealed to God to help the management be strengthened and replenished with what was lost in the fire disaster.
In response, Dr Samuel Akinlaja, Managing Director of Peace Pharmaceutical Company, praised the customs official for his generosity and expressed gratitude to God that no lives were lost in the blaze.
