In a momentous ceremony at the Ojude Pavilion, Oloroogun Sonny Kuku assumed the esteemed position of the 3rd Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland, marking not only his 80th birthday but also a pivotal chapter for the cultural and developmental narrative of Ijebuland and Ogun State.

Kuku, distinguished as the Co-founder of EKO Hospital and Pro-Chancellor of the University of Benin, succeeded his late uncle, Bayo Kuku, solidifying his role as a key influencer in the region. The event saw the convergence of notable figures, including Engr Noimot Salako Oyedele, Deputy Governor of Ogun State, representing the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and former governors of Ogun State, including Olusegun Osoba, Ibikunle Amosun, and Gbenga Daniel, alongside distinguished traditional rulers, emphasized the significance of Kuku's new role.

The gathering further included Ambassador Segun Akinsanya, Chief Taiwo Adeniji, Senior Director with African Finance Corporation, the Bobaseye of Ijebu, Osi Balogun of Ijebu, Chief Gboyega Adeshoye, Prof Toyin Ashiru, Pro-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Engr. Kayode Shote, Otunba Adesanya Yusuf (Dr.), Bobaseilu of Ijebu, Chairman, Ijebu Congress, Prince Bunmi Mebude, Engr, Olusegun A.T Mafe, Chairman, Ijebu Professional Excellence Foundation, the King College Old boys, Regberegbes, market men and women, students, and many others, illustrating the broad spectrum of support for Kuku's new role.

The Awujale, in his profound speech, emphasized the merit-based selection of Kuku, highlighting his unwavering loyalty to the throne and his proven leadership capabilities. He encouraged Kuku to utilize his global networks to uplift the socio-economic development of Ijebuland and Ogun State. Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by Deputy Governor Engr Noimot Salako Oyedele, commended Kuku's outstanding achievements in medicine and business.
