A banker identified as Ifeoma Onyekwelu has been murdered by suspected kidnappers in Anambra State after ransom was collected from the family.

It was gathered that the victim was kidnapped in Onitsha by the daredevil criminal elements on December 13, 2024.

According to reports, the victim worked at Polaris Bank.

She was held captive for several days before the kidnappers contacted her family and demanded a payment.
According to sources, the family paid the kidnappers a ransom of approximately N25 million.
A relative, who requested anonymity, informed reporters that they were heartbroken that despite the ransom payment, the kidnappers killed the victim.

"We paid in two instalments." But we discovered her body near Ideani Junction on the Nnobi-Alor Road," he revealed.

Ms. Onyekwelu's relatives suspected she was killed because she identified one of the kidnappers.

A photo of the victim's body dumped along the road has circulated on social media.
When contacted on Wednesday morning, Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra State police spokesperson, confirmed the development to our qreporter.

Mr Ikenga, a police superintendent, stated that the police received information about the victim's corpse, which was abandoned by kidnappers along the Nnobi-Alor Road.

“The body has been evacuated, and the photographs have been escalated for investigation. "Efforts are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding her death," he stated.
