Sanusi lamido Sanusi II has been reinstated as the Emir of Kano, according to credible information gathered by Lagos Local News correspondents.
This decision came after the Kano State House of Assembly voted to dethrone the current Emir and dissolve the four new Emirates formed by the controversial 2019 law.

Though it has not been officially announced, reliable sources confirmed that Sanusi II has been restored and is expected back in Kano on Friday.

“So certainly with the passage of the Bill, Sanusi automatically stands reinstated. No need for confirmation, the thing to is wait for the Governor to assent to it.” the inside sources revealed.

The restructuring of the Kano Emirate is viewed as a political plot to weaken the influence of then-Emir Sanusi II, a vocal critic of the former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje's administration. The creation of the new emirates divided the authority of the former Kano Emirate Council, reducing its strength and influence.

Meanwhile, Lawan Hussaini Chediyar Yan Gurasa, the Majority Leader of the Kano State House of Assembly, who sponsored the Amendment Bill, told journalists shortly after Thursday's session that "the bill has been sent to the governor for assent, and now there is no longer an active Emir in Kano in all the five Emirates; Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye. The law currently allows the governor to call on the traditional kingmakers to choose a new king.''

According to our correspondent, all district heads who were elevated or appointed under the abolished law are going to return to their previous positions.
