President Bola Tinubu has expressed disapproval of the protest organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, stating that his administration cannot be evaluated after only nine months in office.

The NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, had issued a 14-day nationwide strike notice to the Federal Government on February 8, citing the government's failure to implement the agreements reached on October 2, 2023, after the removal of fuel subsidy.

Tinubu responded to the NLC by stating that calling for a strike within nine months of an administration is unacceptable, suggesting that it should wait until the 2027 general elections to contest.

Arriving at the Ikeja Train Station yesteraday at exactly 12:10 pm, the President participated in the official flag-off of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) and later observed the signing of the contract for phase two of the LMRT Redline project between the state government and the contractor.

Notable Nigerians in attendance were Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Babagana Zulum (Borno).

President Tinubu, during the commissioning, promised to confront corruption, stating that it is a menace that must be eradicated.

He commended the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the new development and assured Nigerians that his administration will work hard for a better country.
