Queen Obukoko, a 30-year-old Nigerian who was born with both male and female sex organs, has opened up about her unique journey of self-discovery and fatherhood. Raised as a girl, Obukoko realized at 15 that she had male characteristics, leading to confusion and embarrassment among her peers. She later struggled with maintaining romantic relationships with men, facing blackmail and rejection due to her intersex condition.

Eventually, Obukoko explored relationships with women and fathered two children. Her first child, a son, was born from a relationship with a woman who later left her due to societal pressure. Her second child, a baby girl, was recently born, but Obukoko fears that the baby may also be intersex, a situation that brings back painful memories of her own struggles.

Despite these challenges, Obukoko remains determined to protect her children from the difficulties she faced, while continuing to navigate her complex identity as both a father and a mother figure to her kids. The older child, who can now talk, lovingly refers to her as “Mummy,” reflecting the unique role she plays in their lives.
