Inspector Killed In Clash Between Soldiers, Police In Adamawa

Police command sues for calm while Investigation goes on.

The Killing of Inspector Jacob Daniel's during a clash between the Nigerian police and soldiers in the State on Wednesday has been confirmed by the Adamawa State Police Command.

The incident was verified to journalists in Yola, the state capital, by SP Suleiman Yahaya, the Police Public Relations Officer.

According to SP Yahaya, Inspector Daniel was killed during the altercation, which also resulted in a violent assault on the Police Command headquarters and an exchange of gunfire.

Meanwhile, CP Afolabi Babatola, the Commissioner of Police, has strongly condemned the altercation between police and military officers.

In addition, Babalola commanded a prompt investigation into the situation in order to maintain justice and peace.

He issued a warning, saying that any form of attack on a security officer while they were performing their duties would no longer be accepted.

He continued by saying that the lives of all security personnel are sacred to the Command and that any unjustified confrontation would be dealt with strictly in compliance with the law as it stands.

In addition, the CP reaffirmed the Command's dedication to safeguarding people and their property and emphasized the need of cooperating with other security agencies to uphold the fundamental rights of security personnel so that they can fulfill their sacred mandate of better serving and defending the public.

While the high commands of both security agencies were making every effort to resolve the situation, the police chief issued an appeal for calm.
