Inspector General Promotes 10,581 Constables and Others

Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has approved the promotion of 10,581 deserving junior officers of the Inspectorate cadre, and the rank and file.

The development was disclosed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Friday.

Adejobi reported that The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has given the green light for the promotion of 10,581 deserving junior officers of the inspectorate cadre, and the rank and file. In line with this directive, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Department of Finance and Administration has been given the task of working alongside the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to promptly begin the promotion process.

The breakdown of promotions, as reported by him, includes 9,831 police constables set to be promoted to the rank of corporal; 81 corporals to move up to the rank of sergeant; and 669 officers scheduled to advance from sergeants to inspectors.

While emphasizing the zeal of the force leadership to foster a culture of meritocracy and career advancement, the IG reiterated the pivotal role of timely promotions in enhancing the morale of officers and bolstering the overall effectiveness of the force.

He noted that serving as a cornerstone in sustaining the ongoing manpower development initiatives of the Nigeria Police Force. However, he reassured that promotions in the Force will be solely based on merit.

The Nigeria Police Force further congratulated all officers scheduled for promotion and encouraged them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation.
