Dr. Mutiu Agboke, the Osun INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, issued certificates of return to the 26 elected members of the Osun House of Assembly on Thursday and urged them not to question the electorates' confidence in them.

The resident commissioner expressed satisfaction at the conclusion of the election and the absence of any cases of supplementary elections in any of the state's 26 constituencies while presenting the certificates.

After that, he thanked each and every one of the 26 elected members of the State House of Assembly and advised them to act in a moral manner in all of their dealings and assignments of service to humanity.

Agboke asserted that the issuance of certificates was in accordance with Section 72 of the Electoral Act 2022, despite the fact that the election for the State House of Assembly was conducted peacefully and with few obstacles overcome.

He remarked, “As we all know, the presentation of certificates of return is in line with the provision of Section 72 of the Electoral Act (2022) which mandated the Commission to issue certificates of return to those who emerged as the winner in the Election conducted on Saturday, March 18, 2023, within 14 days.

“I appreciate the effort of all Inter-Agency Consultative Committee On Election Security (ICCES) members and other stakeholders in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive and conclusive election.”
