Nigeria's former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, has appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the First Lady Remi Tinubu, and Nigerian citizens for the opportunity to serve the country after her removal from the cabinet.

Kennedy-Ohanenye was among many ministers dismissed on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, including Mohammed Gwarzo (state housing minister), Jamila Ibrahim (youth development minister), Prof. Tahir Mamman (education minister), Lola Ade-John (tourism minister), and suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Betta Edu, who was replaced.

Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, in the early hours of Thursday, October 24, 2024, released a statement titled “Letter of appreciation” via her X (formally Twitter) handle. 

She said, “I write to express my sincere gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the chance to serve as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It has been a great honour and a privilege to contribute to the development of our nation.

I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to the first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for her invaluable guidance and support during my tenure as Minister of Women Affairs. Her kindness and encouragement have been instrumental to my success.

To the citizens of Nigeria, I am so grateful for your unwavering support. Your trust and confidence in me have been a constant source of inspiration.

I remain dedicated to serving my country and will continue to do my utmost to contribute to its progress and prosperity.
