The minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has promised to stop open grazing within the Abuja Metropolis.

He made this known when he received His Excellency, Daniel Bertrand, the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, in Abuja on Wednesday, March 6.

Wike told worried inhabitants of Abuja that targets are in progress to put an end to the wandering of cattle within the city center.

The minister disclosed that he had commenced elaborate discussions with different relevant and key stakeholders on the need to stop the roaming of cattle in the FCT.

Consequently, he hinted that fighting insecurity in the city demanded multiple measures, which the government was already implementing to overpower criminalities.

Wike emphasized that his government has also intensified collaborative drives with private sector transportation players, in a bid to strengthen security in FCT.

On his part, the Ambassador, Daniel Bertrand, who had lamented over the roaming of cattle on the streets of Abuja, expressed satisfaction, learning that the minister had commenced a fight against the menace.

The ambassador equally expressed interest in getting investors from his country to collaborate with FCTA in the development of the nation’s capital.
