Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Nwoko, has stated that he was granted over N1 billion for constituency projects in the 2024 budget.

Senator Nwoko's claims were supported by Ali Ndume, who stated that the allocation of resources to legislators can vary based on the size of their constituency projects, highlighting that some may receive larger amounts.

He observed that some Senators obtain what they lobby for, not due to entitlement, but because everyone works towards the interests of their constituencies and senatorial districts.

He added that a more effective strategy would involve senatorial uniformity, where individuals would leverage their influence and connections to secure resources for their constituents, rather than a blanket allocation of N1 billion to each senator.

When the senator was asked about receiving N1 billion in allocation, he confirmed and stated that it is for the people.

Nwoko’s revelation is surfacing amidst the recent controversy of budget padding alleged by Senator Abdul Ningi of the 2024 budget with an extra N3.7 trillion, a fund not allocated to any additional project.

Despite the Red Chamber denying any wrongdoing, certain senators have come forward to explain the amount allocated to them for constituency projects in their various districts.

Nwoko clarified that in reaction to the developments, the allocated funds are for financing projects, not for personal reimbursement of individual senators.
