In Ekiti State, an unidentified man reportedly stabbed his wife to death over alleged infidelity.
The incident occurred over the weekend on Christ Avenue in the Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti.
A resident of the area told reporters that the incident occurred on Friday evening, while another source said it happened Saturday morning.
According to reports, the couple sent the oldest of their two children on an errand and shut the door to their flat before getting into an argument about the issue.
During the altercation, the man, who claims to be a law enforcement official, and his wife, who works in a medicine store, stabbed each other with sharp objects.
It was not clear if it was a knife or bottles they used in the fight.
According to a source, they locked themselves inside their flat with their five-year-old child.
The man approached the deceased over claims that she was cheating on him, and an altercation started, prompting him to stab his wife to death.
People showed up to separate the fight, only to find the door to their apartment locked. When they were unable to force the door open, some of the people nearby destroyed a piece of the ceiling to gain access to their apartment.
They found the deceased and her partner with injuries all over their body. The woman was unconscious and was immediately rushed to the hospital, but she passed away before they arrived.
Sources said that the matter was reported to the police and that the man was taken to an undisclosed hospital, where he is being treated and closely monitored by the police.
