Former governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has opined that the recent economic hardship in Nigeria did not begin with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government.

The former lagos governor spoke at the Akinjide Adeosun Foundation, AAF’s 2024 Leadership Colloquium and Award: Chapter 8, with the theme: ‘Economic Asphyxiation–The Wisdom of Authentic Leaders’, held at Alliance Francaise, in Ikoyi.

Ambode, noted that Nigeria’s challenge had a long history. According to him, the country needs a brave President like Bola Tinubu to fix them frontally.

His words: It (problems) has nothing to do with the President; but if we don’t realize the elementary, we will begin to play the blame games. We need to face our problems carefully.

“The main challenge is that we are tired of not solving our problems. Now, we have seen somebody that has decided in person, President Tinubu.”

Encouraging Nigerians to end the blame games, he reiterated. “Until we choose ourselves to say that we should unite for the common cause called Nigeria, the security challenges will not stop.

“We are all in a position to actually support the President, let us begin to look at it from a different perspective. We don’t have to talk ill of Nigeria. We get what we profess about Nigeria.”

“We must think out of the box. We have to feed ourselves. When we start to think by ourselves and say today we will solve the problems concerning Nigeria, we will smile,” he stated.
