A group of armed attackers targeted the Ogbaru Local Government Secretariat in Anambra State on Saturday. It was gathered that the gunmen burned four vehicles on the premises, but luckily no one was hurt. This attack comes just days after another violent incident in which gunmen killed two soldiers.

According to some witnesses who wish to be anonymous, the gunmen, who invaded the council headquarters secretariat in the early hours of Saturday in large numbers, set about six vehicles and patrol vehicles on the premises ablaze.

Even though there were no reported deaths at the time of filing this report,

Witnesses say the attackers fired wildly into the air. Which caused panic among nearby residents who fled in fear to escape the danger.

The attack on the Ogbaru Local Government Office has residents worried again about safety in the area. They revealed that just a few days ago, gunmen ambushed and killed two soldiers conveying oil workers to a location in the community.

Residents of Ogbaru are on edge after this attack by gunmen. Just a few days ago, unidentified attackers ambushed an army truck with five soldiers carrying oil workers in the Amaja area of Ogwurumba Ikeke. Two soldiers were killed and another injured in the attack.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, an Anambra State police spokesman who confirmed the incident, noted that the attack resulted in the destruction of four patrol vehicles belonging to the state vigilantes.

The Anambra state commissioner of police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has criticised the attack at the Ogbaru Local Government Area Headquarters Secretariat by armed arsonists.

There were no casualties. Reports noted that the assailants, arriving in large numbers on motorcycles and cars, began shooting indiscriminately.

“However, they faced strong resistance from the vigilante operatives until the police response team arrived. Due to the superior firepower of the security operatives, the gunmen fled the scene.
