Gov. Fubara Commits to Human Capital Development With NIM

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has expressed his commitment to the development of the state's workforce. He made this known during a courtesy visit from some members of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), led by Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Atako, the President and Chairman of the Council.

Fubara made this known when some members of the Institute, chaired by the President and Chairman of the Council, Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Atako, paid a courtesy visit at the Governor’s office, Government House, Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Commenting, the President, who acknowledged the Governor for his success at the Supreme Court, proclaiming him as the duly elected governor of the state, equally applauded him for the visible preliminary strides he has taken so far in all sections of the state.

Dr. Atako enlightened the governor that the visit was necessary not just to officially inform him that the Institute’s 2024 Annual National Management Conference (ANMC) has been planned to hold in Port Harcourt from September 22 to September 24 at the Obi Wali Convention Centre but also to inform him of the Institute’s desire to work with the state, especially in the area of human capital development.

Apart from asking for the governor’s assistance in hosting a befitting conference, the president also canvassed for the appointment of some of the state’s civil servants to be present at the conference since the governor will be the chief host at the event.

The NIM head sought recognition of the institute’s certificate for the purposes of employment, promotion, and career development in the state’s civil service, while advocating for the sponsorship of civil servants to the various human capital development programmes of the institute, as that would lead to expanded productivity and enhanced service delivery.
