The Nasarawa State Police Command has taken into custody Timilehin Ajayi, a gospel singer, after allegations that he murdered and dismembered his girlfriend, Salome Enejo, who was 24 years old and a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The police suspect that the crime may have been committed for ritual purposes.

According to the police spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, Enejo was serving in Abuja when she was tragically killed.

Ajayi was apprehended by church members in Orozo, a community close to the Federal Capital Territory, after he was seen carrying a bag containing her severed head.

Eyewitness accounts detail that a congregant noticed Ajayi's suspicious behavior near a river and alerted others when he discarded a bag into the water.

Upon retrieval, the bag was found to contain Enejo’s severed head. Caleb Umaru, the church's Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, recounted that as church services concluded around 11 a.m., a member observed Ajayi's unusual actions and called for assistance from others in the congregation.

When confronted about the contents of the bag, Ajayi initially refused to respond and attempted to flee. However, he was soon caught by several individuals who had gathered to investigate. The police arrived shortly thereafter to take him into custody.

During subsequent investigations, authorities discovered additional remains of Enejo’s body hidden within Ajayi's residence. Nansel confirmed that the suspect was found with a fresh human head and emphasized that they had to intervene to prevent him from being harmed by an angry crowd.

The investigation is ongoing, and Ajayi is currently receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during his apprehension.
