The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Anthony Uga, has cautioned drivers using the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway about the dangers of speeding, highlighting it as a leading cause of accidents on the route.

Uga issued this warning in response to a recent accident near the Fidiwo section of the expressway that resulted in five fatalities and four injuries. He urged motorists not to treat the expressway as a racing track due to its favorable condition.

The incident, which occurred around 2:48 pm, involved a red Prome bus with plate number MUS191HA and a gold Toyota Camry with registration AKD754BG.

According to Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun FRSC, the accident was attributed to reckless overtaking, excessive speed, and a burst tire.

Injured individuals were taken to Victory Hospital in Ogere Remo for treatment, while the deceased were transferred to the FOS Morgue in Ipara Remo.

Another recent accident near the NASFAT section of the same expressway resulted in five deaths and 10 injuries, with reckless driving cited as the cause.
