An unidentified driver tragically lost his life in an attempt to escape from a potential attack on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The incident involved a blue Mercedes Benz truck with the license plate RBC110XJ and an ash Toyota Sienna car with the license plate EKY240HA.

According to information gathered by PUNCH Metro, the driver had initially collided with a commercial motorcyclist who was riding against the traffic. Fearing retaliation, the driver hastily sped away but ended up colliding with a stationary truck on the road, resulting in his fatality.

An eyewitness, Opeyemi Lateef, recounted the sequence of events, stating, "I was in a bus following the Sienna car when it collided with a commercial motorcyclist riding against traffic. Perhaps fearing the consequences of the collision, the driver decided to flee, which led to the fatal collision with a truck up ahead."

Florence Okpe, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the accident and revealed that one person had lost their life.

She attributed the accident to excessive speeding, stating, "The accident occurred around 2.56 pm near the Lotto Bus stop. The vehicles involved were a blue Mercedes Benz truck with the license plate RBC110XJ and an ash Toyota Sienna with the license plate EKY240HA.

Two individuals were involved, with one fatality. The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed, resulting in a loss of control and a collision with the truck. The deceased victim's remains have been taken to a morgue in Sagamu."
