The fire, which began around 7 am, prompted the court's staff to evacuate the area in a state of panic.
According to a reliable source, the fire may have been caused by an electrical malfunction in one of the offices within the administrative wing of the court. It was confirmed that three offices, including that of Justice Mohammed Saulawa, were affected by the fire before it was eventually extinguished.
The Supreme Court has rejected claims of casualties resulting from the recent fire incident that occurred within one of its chambers.
Festus Akande, the spokesperson for the Supreme Court, refuted these allegations during an interview on Arise Television on Monday.
Akande clarified, "Given that it wasn't a significant incident, there was no need to evacuate anyone. Our staff were present and swiftly acted to extinguish the fire."
Akande also emphasized that the reports circulating on social media regarding casualties are "false news."
According to reports, the cleaning staff on duty and some early-arriving workers had noticed the fire and promptly raised the alarm.
These employees were reported to have used the building's fire extinguishers to combat the blaze.
