There is an urgent need to digitalize government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), says the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani.
On Thursday, during the meeting of the Nigeria National Council of ICT Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Abeokuta, Tijani emphasized that this move would not only enhance proactiveness in governance, but also prevent fraudulent activities, improve Nigeria's economy, and ensure government priorities are always set right.
He mentioned that the meeting was aimed at brainstorming on the optimal methods for digitalizing government operations through its MDAs and other structures in the country.
He stated the necessity for immediate provision of ICT infrastructure to aid data sharing among government agencies.
“If we are sharing data appropriately, we can even know how people are moving between states in Nigeria so that when there is the need to increase the capacity to support people, we can quickly do that seamlessly,” he said.
The minister urged stakeholders and participants in the programme to back the innovation for achieving genuine and rapid success.
