The Federal Government has declared that the diaspora sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance demonstrators have been placed on a watch list and will be detained upon entering the country.

Kemi Nanna Nandap, Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, said this at a meeting of security agencies and service chiefs hosted by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, on Tuesday at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

“We have diaspora sponsors. They are on our watch list. They are watch-listed, any attempt they make to come into the country, we’ll be notified and they will be picked up and handed to the appropriate authority,” Nandap said.

The Immigration Boss stated that in reaction to the protests, the Service has deployed more officers to land and airport crossings to ensure effective manning of the various entry points.

Nandap said the Service has also increased surveillance to prevent foreign intervention in the country.

Similarly, Yusuf Bichi, Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), stated that the agency had identified several sponsors but declined to provide additional details.

The D-G of DSS, who was represented by the Service Spokesman, Dr Peter Afunanya, stated that some accounts had been blocked.

He stated that some of the individuals managing such accounts were living abroad and were being monitored.
