The Federal government has revealed the identity of a Canada-based woman who allegedly threatened to kill fellow Nigerians living in the North American country. The woman who identified as Amaka Patience Sunnberger, made the threats in a viral video clip circulating on social media.
In the video, Sunnberger's voice is heard making anti-Yoruba comments during a virtual meeting on TikTok. Speaking mainly in Pidgin English, she vowed to poison Yoruba and Benin people she encounters at her workplace.
"Record me very well; it's time to start poisoning the Yoruba and the Benin. Put poison for all una food for work. Put poison for una water, make una dey kpai one by one," Sunnberger said.
She claimed her comments were in response to the "hate" against the Igbo people and dared anyone to report her to the Canadian authorities.
Abike Dabiri, the chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, disclosed Sunnberger's identity on X (formerly Twitter) and stated that a group of Nigerians in Canada are officially reporting her to the relevant authorities.
The House of Representatives has also written to the Canadian government, urging it to investigate and prosecute Sunnberger for her inciting comments, which violate international and Canadian laws.
Sunnberger has since deleted her TikTok account, but her threatening remarks have sparked outrage and concerns over potential escalation of violence within the Nigerian diaspora.
