The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced that the ongoing recruitment process for the Federal Fire Service (FFS) will be concluded by June 15, 2024.

Olubumi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Board, stated that the new date was consistent with the Board's revised timeframe for the conduct of recruitment in the paramilitary Services under the Board's authority.

Tunji-Ojo, speaking through the CDCFIB's secretary, Ja'afaru Ahmed, after its quarterly review meeting with the heads of the four paramilitary agencies under its supervision, stated that shortlisted candidates would be asked to visit the Board's portal via messages sent to their email and mobile phone numbers.

The minister warned the public to disregard messages on social media asking people to pay a placement fee, claiming that they were from scammers. He further stated that the Board reviewed 118 cases of erring personnel from the four Services within its jurisdiction and imposed appropriate disciplinary measures.

According to the summary of cases and Board resolutions after the meeting, 48 officers from the Nigerian Correctional Service, 21 officers from the Nigeria Immigration Service, 12 officers from the Federal Fire Service, and 37 officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were involved.

The breakdown shows that 30 officers were dismissed from the service while five others were to be dismissed and prosecuted.

The recommendations also included 9 retirements and 17 de-rankings and punishments as well as 14 discharges, acquisitions, and commendations.
