Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have neutralized a notorious bandit, Salisu Mohammed, also known as Dogo Saleh, during a counter-kidnapping operation targeting a criminal syndicate.

The operation marks a significant breakthrough in the fight against violent crime in the FCT and surrounding regions.

According to police reports, the operation was launched on March 3, 2025, following credible intelligence about the movement of bandits into the FCT. Officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted Mohammed at Gidan Abe Forest while he was en route to Bwari Area Council.

Mohammed, a 21-year-old from Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was identified as a key figure in several high-profile kidnappings and killings across major highways and communities.

Police disclosed that Mohammed’s possessions included an AK-49 rifle with two magazines, 60 rounds of live ammunition, and ₦3 million in cash believed to be proceeds from previous kidnappings.

Investigations revealed his involvement in multiple abductions, including incidents at Kyauta Village and Kike Village in Kaduna State, where he extorted millions of naira in ransom. His crimes extended to attacks on security personnel and kidnappings along the Lokoja–Enugu highway.

Further intelligence led police operatives to Kwasau Forest in Kaduna State on March 4, 2025, where Mohammed’s gang operated under the leadership of Abdu Musa, alias "Kanabaro." During this follow-up operation, police were ambushed by armed bandits attempting to rescue Mohammed.

A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the criminals to retreat with injuries. Mohammed sustained fatal gunshot wounds during the crossfire and was later confirmed dead at Kubwa General Hospital.

The police successfully dismantled the gang’s hideout without significant casualties among law enforcement personnel. One officer sustained minor injuries but has since recovered.
