A former federal lawmaker in Abia State, Sam Onuigbo, has applauded the state governor, Dr. Alex Otti for paying compensation to the community whose land would be used for the construction of a Federal Secretariat in the state.
The lawmaker affirmed that he paid Governor Otti a courtesy visit on June 20, 2023, less than one month after he assumed office, to bring him up to date on projects that God helped him to facilitate when he represented the people of the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South federal constituency.
Onuigbo said during interrogation with journalists after a meeting with the Governor in his Umuehim, Nvosi country home in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, adding that he aided some road projects and the construction of a Federal Secretariat in Abia State.
He disclosed that the failure of the previous administration to pay remuneration to the community whose land was allocated for the project obstructed the Federal Government from commencing building of the secretariat.
He said, I was happy to learn that the governor was already planning to fix the road from Ossah to Okara Square after I mentioned it as needing repairs.
I also told him the Umuahia-Umudike 16-kilometre dualization project, a road that was supposed to be built from Amachara to Ossah and then continue down to Umudike.
He added, The governor impressed me. Just a month after he assumed office, in June last year, he informed me that he was already addressing the project, developing plans, and figuring out remuneration costs. It was clear he had set goals for the area.
