Dr Chukwudubem Ezekwelu, Managing Director and Project Manager of PRACO International Limited has described as illegal, the intentional pulling down of Praco Housing Estate despite the existence of compulsory approvals and legal titles.

On Wednesday, March 27, officials of development control in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, disobeyed significant court orders to commence the pulling down of an estate being developed by SNECOU Group Ltd.

The property belongs to PRACO Limited and is located at plot 581E No. E27 Cadastral Zone, Kugbo, with registration number FCDA/DC/BP/ASD/29163.

Speaking during a press conference at the headquarters of the company, Ezekwelu bemoaned that as early as 7:45 am, the executive of FCT, alongside an entourage of security personnel drawn from the military, police, and the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), DSS, and NCS, rushed to the site with heavy equipment, which consisted of bulldozers and excavators, and commenced demolition.

He revealed that the officials refused to abide by the significant order of an FCT High Court 44, Wuse Zone 2, presided over by Hon. Justice Eleojo Enenche dated March 22, 2024 in Suit No. FCT/HC/CV/1739/24 on Motion No. M/5827/2024.

The project manager disclosed that the FCT High Court on March 28 increased the interlocutory injunction against the FCDA authorities and prevented them from further actions pending the hearing of the substantive suit on April 9, 2024.

He stated that on numerous occasions the court had granted Praco relief sought in the case of trespass and attempts to dispossess the company of its legitimate title to the said property, noting that “we are privy to a series of efforts by a highly placed official in FCDA who has an interest in Sunrise Estate to cause a breach of the law.
