The Elekole-in-Council has stated that Oba Adewunmi Fasiku, the Elekole of Ikole Ekiti, had obtained the required permission before traveling for a medical vacation.

The council addressed reports indicating that the monarch's location was unknown and he was out of reach.

In a statement released to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, the Elekole-in-Council, through Chief Oluwasayo Okunola, the Second-in-Command to the Elekole and Olotin of Ikole-Ekiti, affirmed that the people in Ikole Ekiti know the king’s location. Just like any other human being, he is indisposed and receiving treatment abroad.”

In the report, the Save Ikole Group alleged that their members' advice helped prevent youths in the town from attacking chiefs of the community over the monarchs' state and whereabouts.

However, the council pointed out the silver lining that the Elekole is recovering, as seen in his virtual address to the chiefs and a large group of townspeople on January 20, 2024.

Chief Okunola reported that when the king traveled, he adhered to all necessary steps and procedures by seeking approval from the state government, as required by the constitution, and he duly notified members of Elekole-in-council and other chiefs.
