Personnels of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), Enugu Zonal Command, have apprehended 7 suspected internet fraudsters in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
The anti-graft agency announced in a press release on Wednesday that the apprehension followed credible intelligence linking the suspects to fraudulent internet activities.
“The all-male suspects were apprehended in a sting operation at Commissioners’ Quarters, Dr. J. O. Ukwutinife Close, Ifite, Awka, Anambra State, following credible intelligence linking them to fraudulent internet activities,’ the statement read in part.
The statement further stated that items recovered from the suspects include six luxury cars, mobile phones and several laptops, believed to be tools used in their reported fraudulent schemes.
The anti-graft agency reiterated its dedication to combating cybercrime, cautioning that it would leave no stone unturned in its efforts to rid society of criminal activities.
“They will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement added.
