The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the lives of visually impaired individuals through education and employment opportunities.
This assurance was made by the Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, during a meeting with members of the Nigeria Association of the Blind, Edo State Chapter, led by Chairman Lucky Imafidon, at the Government House in Benin City.
Idahosa emphasized the government's dedication to safeguarding the welfare of visually impaired residents, recognizing their integral role in the state's economic development.
He expressed his delight at hosting the association and acknowledged the challenges faced by visually impaired persons. He assured them that the administration is committed to translating promises into tangible actions.
The deputy governor highlighted that Governor Monday Okpebholo is a "listening governor" who will further engage with the association to address their concerns. Idahosa pledged that the government would prioritize their needs and work towards creating a supportive environment for their endeavors.
In response, Lucky Imafidon congratulated Idahosa and Okpebholo on their electoral victory and expressed optimism about the administration's focus on addressing the challenges faced by visually impaired citizens.
Imafidon underscored the importance of special attention to their needs, while Akhabue Matthew, General Secretary of the association, commended Idahosa for recognizing and prioritizing their welfare within a short period of taking office.
