Three commuters tragically lost their lives in a road accident on the Osogbo/Ikirun road, involving a truck and a car.
All three victims were traveling in a car heading toward Ikirun, in the same direction as the truck.
The car carrying the deceased was completely damaged in the accident, which occurred around 8:25 pm on Tuesday.
Following the accident, the Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for the Osun Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, stated that reckless driving caused the crash.
She explained, “A fatal accident occurred around 8:25 pm on February 27, 2024, along the Ikirun-Osogbo Expressway. The accident involved a Lexus 350 car and an unregistered trailer."
She further added, “The accident claimed three lives on the spot. According to an eyewitness, the accident was a result of reckless driving and overspeeding by the trailer driver, who fled the scene immediately afterward."
She concluded, “The victims have been taken to a yet-to-be-identified morgue.”
