A yet-to-be-identified truck driver had come face to face with death in a fatal accident involving his truck and a trailer at the Old Abeokuta Road by Isokoko, in the Agege Local Government Area of Lagos.

Our correspondents gathered on Thursday that a low bed truck crashed into a nearby pedestrian bridge after being hit by the other truck and the driver was seriously injured in the process.

Adebayo Taofiq, a spokesman for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, confirmed the incident to our correspondent and attributed the collision on a brake failure.

Taofiq stated that the victim was taken to the hospital for medical attention, and the wrecked truck had been removed from the scene to allow for free flow of traffic.

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Transportation, Sola Giwa, sympathised with the injured driver and enjoined truck owners/ driver to always carry out a routine check on their vehicles before driving them on any of the roads around Lagos.

Taofiq also urged the public, particularly motorists, to contact LASTMA directly through the recently introduced toll-free hotline (080000527862) or visit the Walk-In Call Centre to report various incidents, including traffic congestion, accidents, unprofessional conduct by LASTMA officers, and encouragement for good service.
