The Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended a driver for cramping children inside a Volkswagen Passat.
The driver, who was hired to transport children to a beach, locked four of them in the car trunk while 11 others were cramped in the car.
The State Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed this in a statement published on Friday at the command's headquarters in Ikeja.
Concerned bystanders reported the vehicle on the Lekki–Ikoyi Link Bridge at approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, according to the statement.
Preliminary investigations discovered that one child collapsed earlier in the day owing to comparable transportation conditions, but recovered after receiving medical assistance.
Hundeyin added that the command had returned the children to their parents while the "suspects would be charged in court."
Lagos State citizens have consistently been commended by State Commissioner of Police CP Adegoke Fayoade for swiftly reporting suspicious persons or events to the authorities.
