DHQ Declares Simon Ekpa, 96 Others Wanted

The Defence Headquarters has stated that a minimum of 97 individuals are being sought for terrorism and insurgency related crimes, among others, as they are the perpetrators of violent crimes in the country.

Among the wanted individuals is Simon Ekpa, a factional leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.

On Friday, Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, unveiled the names and images of the wanted individuals.

In November 2022, the military declared 19 bandit leaders wanted with a N5m bounty on each to prompt Nigerians to provide information for their arrest. This time, no bounty was placed on the 97 persons declared wanted.

Within the list were the names and pictures of terrorists from the North East and North West, along with insurgents in the South-East and North Central.

Among the individuals declared wanted in the North West Zone due to banditry are Alhaji Shingi; Malindi Yakubu; Boka; Dogo Gide; Halilu Sububu; Ado Aliero; Bello Turji; Dan Bokkolo; Labi Yadi; Nagala; Saidu Idris; Kachalla Rugga; and Sani Gurgu.

In the North East, where Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa Province terrorists have caused devastation, 33 individuals were announced as wanted.

Among them are Abu Zaida, Modu Sulum, Baba Data, Ahmad, Sani Teacher, Baa Sadiq, Abdul Saad, Kaka Abi, Mohammad Khalifa, Umar Tella, Abu Mutahid, Mallam Mohammad, Mallam Tahiru Baga, Uzaiya, and Ali Ngule.

A total of 21 Insurgents and violent criminals were declared wanted in the southeast and North Central Area. They include Simon Ekpa, Chika Edoziem, Egede, Zuma, ThankGod, Gentle, Flavour, Mathew, David Ndubuisi, High Chief Williams Agbor, Ebuka Nwaka, Friday Ojimka, Obiemesi Chukwudi aka Dan Chuk, David Ezekwem Chidiebube, and Amobi Chinonso Okafor aka Temple, among others.
