Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has opined that democracy and development cannot prosper without peace.

The Deputy Speaker gave this opinion while playing host to a delegation from the German Initiative for Knowledge Transfer on a courtesy call to his office at the National Assembly.

Kanu, while stating that one of the problems facing the country is insecurity, pointed out that investments, development, and democracy can only flourish in an atmosphere of peace.

He emphasised that the awareness motivated him to usher in the Peace in the South East Project, PISE-P, an energetic approach towards achieving peace in the South East zone of the country. However, he sought a partnership with the German agency to construct rehabilitation centres and digital skills acquisition for the youths from the region.

He said, we need to promote a spirit of cooperation, shared responsibility, and mutual understanding—values that are well embodied in our call for partnership for the Peace in the Southeast Project (PISE-P).

I urge every one to join us in this endeavor. Let us nurture an environment where ICT is not just a tool but a beacon of hope for a safer, brighter, and more peaceful world. Let us utilise ICT as a means to bridge gaps, heal divisions, and foster understanding. And let us dedicate ourselves to a future where cybersecurity is not just about defending our systems but also about protecting our shared values, our common goals, and our collective future.
