Davido Breaks African TikTok Live Stream Record

Afrobeats singer and record producer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has broken the record for the most-watched live stream in Africa on TikTok.

Davido, along with TikTok stars Peller, Jarvis, and Jo Blaq, hosted a live stream yesterday, October 30th, and it drew 389,800 viewers. This feat surpasses all previous live-stream records on the platform in the region.

During the live stream on TikTok, which saw over 164,000 concurrent viewers, the Superstar received an impressive 377 Lion gifts from fans. Each lion gift, valued at $400, contributed to an overall gift totalling about $153,000.

To reward his co-hosts for their part in the successful live stream, Davido generously announced that the proceeds from the gifts would be shared with them.

Initially, Peller held the title for Africa’s most-watched TikTok live stream. He achieved this milestone during a joint stream with singer Tiwa Savage.

The live stream, which set a new record, is a warm-up for Davido's upcoming single, "Awuke."
