Curfew Imposed in Sabon Birni,Sokoto Over Killing of District Head

The Sokoto State Police Command has imposed a curfew in Sabon Birni town, located in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area (LGA), following violent protests by youths over the killing of the District Head of Gatawa, Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa.

The unrest erupted after news spread of the brutal killing of Alhaji Bawa, who was the Sarkin Gobir of Gatawa District. The district head was kidnapped by unidentified assailants and later found murdered on Wednesday, sparking outrage among the local youth.

The protesters took to the streets, expressing their anger and frustration over the continued insecurity in the area. In response to the escalating violence, the Sokoto State Police Command, through its spokesperson, ASP Ahmed Rufai announced the imposition of a curfew in Sabon Birni town. The curfew, which restricts movement in the area, will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily until further notice. Authorities are on high alert, and additional security personnel have been deployed to the area to enforce the curfew and prevent further unrest.

The police have also launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and murder of Alhaji Bawa, as efforts continue to apprehend those responsible.

The situation remains tense, and residents of Sabon Birni and surrounding areas are advised to remain calm and adhere to the curfew regulations to ensure their safety.
