According to sources, Prince Bassey Otu, the governor-elect of Cross River State, has been attempting to win the support of notable natives both inside and outside the state to enable him to form his incoming administration.
According to reports, some of these natives include the former director general of the State Security Services (SSS), Ekpenyong Ita, and the minister of state for power, Goddy Jeddy-Agba.
Over the weekend, the two received an informal visit from the incoming governor.
Although what the governor-elect spoke about with them was not made public, observers believe that he is widely consulting on strategy and building support for his government beginning in May 2023.
He may have visited the former head of the secret police because of the state's security issues, which include kidnapping, gangsterism, and inter-communal violence, among others.
Otu commended Jeddy Agba's efforts in helping him win.
Otu and Jeddy-Agba agreed to keep cooperating closely to advance the state's expansion and development.
Both dignitaries had harboured dreams of becoming the state's governor at various points in time.
Within a week after his INEC declaration, it is reported that Otu has already contacted several business partners and stakeholders in the state.
