Court Fixes April 17 to Try Kano Ex-Governor Ganduje, Wife and Son

A Kano State High Court has set April 17 for the arraignment of the state's immediate past governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife, son, and five others before Justice Usman Malam Na'aba of the State High Court, for charges bordering on eight counts of bribery, theft, and diversion of billions of Naira worth of public funds.

Recall that the Kano State government had filed an allegation against former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his wife Hafsat Umar, in the State High Court.

Six more defendants have joined the new suit, including Ganduje's son, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises.

In the lawsuit filed against the eight defendants, the Kano State Government stated that it had recruited 15 witnesses to testify against them.

Ganduje and the others will face eight counts, including a $413,000 bribery allegation, as well as diversion and theft of money totaling N1.38 billion.
