Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State reaffirmed his government's dedication to prioritising the rights, welfare, education, and safety of children in the state on Monday.

He made the pledge in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Mainstream Media, Dan Nwomeh, to mark 2024 Children’s Day.

The press release read, The governor is specifically focused on safeguarding the rights of every child and ensuring children of school age have access to high-quality basic education, which will enable them to express their creativity in science, art, music, and technology and make their voices heard in society.

Children are an important part of our society. Without them, there will not be a transition to a greater tomorrow.

They reflect the viewpoint of our future, and the tomorrow we want to leave for them. We are, however, dedicated to making sure that their rights, which are fundamental to my administration, are safeguarded.

Our government has made it a point of duty to commit to the education, safety, welfare, and rights of our children. This is why we are dedicating over 33% of this fiscal year’s budgetary allocation to their education and well-being.

Concerning the theme of 2024’s Children’s Day, “For every child, every right,” Mbah emphasised that his government was at the forefront of eradicating child labour, child trafficking, dislocation, malnutrition, or any other form of attack, noting that no child in the state would experience a setback in their education due to their family background.
