Carnival Calabar 2022, Theme: Agro-Industrialization

The most colourful street event in West Africa was held yesterday on Thursday, 28th December 2022 in Calabar,  Cross River State. 

Various Cultural bands in their colourful costumes came out to perform and entertain a crowd of spectators who came out in their numbers on the street to watch the annual carnival. 

It was a beautiful site to see, as these bands brought their creativity to limelight in correlation to the theme of the day, which is Agro-Industrialization. 

The governor of the state Senator Ben Ayade along with his wife Barr Linda Ayade, and other dignitaries, were present at the event.

The march started as usual at the millennium park; Different bands in beautiful costumes marched along the street of Calabar, performing to the amusement of the crowd. 

They danced, and marched in different styles showcasing beautiful creative displays of Agricultural profitability and the achievements of the government of Cross River State in the Agro-Industrialized sector.

Judges were placed at three locations in the city; Maryslessor roundabout, Rabana Roundabout, and Mobil respectively to score their performance and ability to capture the theme of the day.

Some excited spectators spoke to Lagos Local News, and expressed their pleasure at the turn of the event.

Eric said "I didn't expect it to turn out this way, this is my first time attending the carnival and it is more beautiful than I imagined"

Another attendee Amaka Okenwa expressed her joy saying "At first, I thought the carnival wouldn't hold because of so many doubts, but I am happy to experience it once again. 

"I refused to travel back to my hometown specifically for this. I'm happy I stayed back."
