CAN Urges Govt to Tackle Insecurity, Hardship, Division' ,
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) called on the federal government to quickly address the problems of insecurity, economic hardship, and social division in the country.
This was revealed in a message made available by the CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, in Abuja, congratulating Muslims celebrating the Eid-ul-Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Archbishop Okoh called on Nigerian leaders to focus on policies that will improve the lives of the people and ensure fairness for all. “It is only through good governance and honest leadership can we restore hope and trust in our country's future.
He said, As the Muslims faithful celebrate Eid-ul-Maulud, we in CAN expresses hopes that the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, PBUH, will motivate Nigerians to strive for peace, justice, and a united Nigeria.
He emphasised the essence of promoting peace and understanding.
Saying Nigeria's strength is dependent on its religious and cultural diversity while emphasising the need for unity among all citizens.
“Let us use this commemoration to restore our dedication to promoting peace and understanding among all citizens.
In these hard times, it is very necessary for us to unite and assist each other, irrespective of our religion or ethnicity.
We achieve more together when we have a common goal, and it is through mutual respect and dialogue that we can build a more peaceful society.
Okoh advised religious leaders to continue supporting messages of tolerance and coexistence.
“Let us inspire our communities to be more compassionate and helpful, especially towards those who are less fortunate."
